Offline Access for a Vessel

Offline Sync Inactivity

Fleet account access: Offline access is coordinated between the vessel's Fleet administrator (yacht management company) and MMV support. The installation itself is performed remotely by MMV once the vessel's server meets the minimum requirements. Offline access is a Fleet-level feature — Sub-Account, Crew, and Payroll users do not manage it.

MMV Offline lets a vessel operate without an active internet connection by syncing data whenever connectivity returns. To ensure the system keeps working correctly, sync activity has to be monitored regularly.

Important: If a vessel remains unsynced for 6 months, the offline system will automatically lose its ability to sync with the main platform. This is a built-in security and performance measure to ensure outdated data doesn't affect system accuracy.

What happens if a vessel goes unsynced too long

When 6 months of no sync passes:

  • The offline installation stops being able to sync with the cloud.
  • The offline system must be completely reinstalled on the vessel's server.
  • The reinstall is subject to a $500 reinstall fee. See Offline Support & Re-Installation Costs for details.

How to prevent this — set up sync alerts

MMV strongly recommends that management companies configure offline sync alerts. Alerts automatically notify you if a vessel hasn't synced within a configured number of days, so you can act before the 6-month cutoff.

For step-by-step guidance on setting these up, see the article Check Offline Sync and Set up Alerts in the Administration section of the Fleet Guide.

Recommendations to avoid losing sync capability

  • Regularly check the Offline Sync and History Settings for each vessel that has an offline install.
  • Configure automatic sync alerts and assign responsible users to monitor the notifications.
  • Ensure the vessel's dedicated server has stable connectivity during scheduled sync windows (typically 02:00).
  • Contact the MMV Support Team immediately if you notice a vessel hasn't synced for an extended period.

Common questions

Is there any way to recover if we hit the 6-month cutoff?

The only fix is a full reinstall, which costs $500 plus any additional install-time charges. The far cheaper option is to set up alerts so you never hit the cutoff.

What if a vessel is in dry dock or laid up — does the timer still count?

Yes. The 6-month window is measured strictly from the last successful sync. If a vessel is going into lay-up, contact MMV in advance so we can advise on options.
