As we mentioned in a previous section you can create user roles for Fleet account users, such as the DPA, and for sub account users, such as the Captain. These user roles will have access to various parts of the system such as the PMS or Crew list that will enable them to do their jobs.
We also have another type of access, called crew access, which can also be used to give people onboard access to the system.
Crew access however differs from user roles and users as it will only give access to the following parts of the system:
- The Safety Management Manual
- The crewmembers crew profile
- The crewmembers documents
- The crewmembers timesheets (if enabled for the vessel)
As you can see this provides quite limited access to the system and is designed for junior members of crew, such as Deckhands, to be able to see the SMS and their own profile without the need for creating a full user role profile.
You, as a system administrator, will also have the option to control the read/edit/delete permissions for each field within the crewmembers profile, and for each mandatory document. This will allow you full control over what the crewmember can modify within their profile.
